I want to learn to digitize but don't understand the lingo that well and don't know where to start. Since it is a free program there are some bugs and the software isn't stable. Stitch Era embroidery software. It looks fairly easy to use and has a bunch of tutorials. Not a good sign!

I'm out of breath March 22, Certain items are missing, others will need explanation. Education gets very conditions. Therefore, I suggest finding out what other embroidery software is produced by the company providing the converter. I have used Sophie Sew quite a few times.
I accidentally made a line outside the design and can't figure out how to erase it!! But the UI is really old school and the functionality is limited. My machine does not have a stitch limit - it has a size limit - don't remember what I did. Some of the new features are really nice and others are a little hard to get use to.
If you can offer any assistance I would greatly appreciate it!! I wish someone would just give spohiesew example of one thing how to do. That little program does a lot but it's not as user sophiese as Sophie is Make sure that you haven't combined the components of the design yet or you will not be able to do this and you could delete the entire design.
On the opposite, Embird has a fairly ugly website, but it's fast, fully functional and even includes useful information. It works fine for creating new files. It's worth a try. There is also free online format conversion at embroidery designs. And for this one I used SophieSew to create the embroidery file.

Also you can be right in the middle of working on something and do a save as, name it and it saves it within the program in it's own exclusive format.

I just downloaded Sohie Sew sophiexew other day but really don't quite understand it. I enjoy using it, and it is fairly easy to use.

Granted there are those that you scan in a picture and the program auto digitizes it but you don't get great results with those from what I have heard. Is it new, maybe that is why I never heard sophiessw it? If you can get the I'm rooting for you! This allows you to select each portion of your design individually and move, rotate or delete it.
